  • Millwall - past Richmond

A reported 10,000 spectators are expected to descend upon Richmond for the biggest event in the river’s calendar, the Great River Race, bringing a spectacular close to the Thames Festival, which has been running all this month across London.

Twickenham will once again come to life with the sights and sounds of Carnival!

This Saturday, 27 September, The Great River Race expects to see more than 300 intrepid crews row their way from Millwall, London Dockyards, at 9:30am, all the way up through central London, past Richmond, with the front runners finishing up at Ham House riverside by 16:40 (the back runners may take a few more hours…).

It’s a mammoth undertaking, and there are sure to be many sore arms afterwards. The idyllic settings of Richmond Bridge, and the events planned at Ham house are expected to draw huge numbers of revellers and spectators, it looks like great fun for everyone out to enjoy the river, but may cause disruption for other residents in the area.
